Dear John,
Over the last year, many Minnesotans have felt pain at the pump from the high cost of gasoline — which has unfortunately only been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. But this summer, we saw that ensuring the year-round sale of E-15 is a critical tool in helping us combat those high prices. E-15 is a cheaper, biofuel alternative that burns cleaner than traditional gasoline, is made with home-grown Minnesota corn and helps move America towards energy independence. It’s a win-win!
So, I’ve been leading the charge on making the year-round, nationwide sale of E-15 permanent. Last week, I introduced The Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act that would make the year-round, nationwide sale of E-15 permanent and ensure that Minnesotans will always have access to a cheaper, homegrown option for fuel, regardless of the season. I was proud to introduce this bipartisan bill to help support our family farmers and lower costs for Minnesotans at the pump — and it's supported by the largest unified group of farming, biofuels and oil companies to date! I’ll keep fighting to get it over the finish line.
Here are some of the other highlights from this week:
Protecting Marriage Equality
It was an honor to be at the White House with my wife Cheryl this week to attend the signing ceremony for the Respect for Marriage Act. We acted so that families like mine will stay protected, no matter what happens in the courts.
Community Partners Addressing Hunger
Great to meet with Allison O'Toole, CEO of Second Harvest Heartland, this week and thank her for her work in tackling food insecurity.
Supporting Minnesota Farmers
This week, I was honored to be recognized by the Minnesota Farm Bureau for my work on the House Committee on Agriculture in the 117th Congress. I can’t wait to continue that work in the 118th!
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
What a fun surprise! This week, former Minnesota Congressman Rick Nolan stopped in to join our Democratic Caucus meeting. It's always great to catch up with former Members to get their perspectives on our work in Congress.
I can’t believe how quickly the year is winding down. It has been an honor to serve you all in the 117th Congress. I could not be more proud of all of this year’s accomplishments — whether it was securing federal funds for our law enforcement officers, fighting for family farmers or lowering the cost of health care. I can't wait to get back to work during the 118th Congress!
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and a great start to 2023!
Until next time,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
