John,
Our youth civic engagement fellowship invests in young people who are making an impact in their communities, by serving on school boards, youth councils, and more.
We’re starting our 2023 program in early January, and after hearing from so many great applicants, we decided to expand our program to include more young Fellows.
To cover more participants’ stipends, we need to raise at least $3,000 more for the program by the end of the month.
Can you chip in today to invest in young community leaders? Your donation will help us train and pay even more young people to organize for justice and equity.
Thank you! Please feel free to check out more about our program and our Fellows in our prior email.

John,
I’m Layla with Team Rashida, and I’m coordinating our 2023 Mama Lila Cabbil Youth Civic Engagement Fellowship to train young people with valuable community organizing skills.
Starting in January, Fellows from the ages of 14 to 19 years old will meet once a month from January to August to develop leadership skills, build lasting relationships with other activists, and engage their community in the political process.
After hearing from so many incredible applicants who are making an impact in their communities, we decided to expand the program to include more participants.
90% of the Fellows are BIPOC, and we’re paying each participant a $1,000 stipend. Because we’re expanding the program, we have to raise at least $3,000 to cover their stipends before the program starts next month.
Will you donate today to help us meet our $3,000 goal to train more young people who are fighting for justice in their communities?
Young people have turned out in record numbers to vote, including in our state of Michigan. In order to win the transformational changes that our communities urgently need, we need to engage young people year-round in the political process.
Our youth civic engagement fellowship invests in young people who are already serving their communities. Here’s some more information about the Fellows set to start in 2023’s cohort in January:
-
Fellows are serving on youth councils to promote youth education, community involvement, and civic interaction.
-
Some Fellows are serving as student representatives on their local school boards.
-
Some are fighting for environmental justice, including serving on Michigan's Clean Air Youth Council or becoming water activists, like the namesake of our fellowship program: Mama Lila Cabbil.
These are incredible young leaders who deserve our support.
Do you see why we needed to expand our program when so many great applicants applied? That’s why we must raise at least $3,000 more for the program by the end of the month, to cover more stipends.
Can you chip in today to invest in young community leaders? Your donation will help us train and pay even more young people to organize for justice and equity.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately, with 100% going directly to the Rooted in Community Leadership PAC
Thank you so much,
Layla with Team Rashida
