This month marks the 67th anniversary of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her seat for a white man and move to the back of a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama.
This gentle, unassuming woman's act of civil disobedience led others to rise in protest, sparking a movement that eventually ended segregation in the South. Rosa Parks is a symbol of our nation’s struggles to make good on the promise that we are all created equal.
Rosa Parks said, “You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” We can all affect change the way she did 67 years ago, John -- by speaking up and taking a stand when it matters. That’s how we can truly honor her legacy.
We are still working to make goood on the promise that we are all created equal -- the same promise Rosa Parks fought for 67 years ago. We continue to fight for it by electing leaders who will put people over politics, make America’s greatness accessible and affordable to all, and build a more perfect union.
We just finished one hard-fought election, but there will be more important electoral battles on the horizon and I want to know I can count on your involvement. If you’re committed to fighting with me to advance equality and justice for all, add your name to mine today. [[link removed]]
Thank you,
Jim
