Good afternoon friend,

Sitting down to write this, the final email of 2022, I’m struck again by what your support has delivered this year. Take a quick look back at some of our highlights:

There are some pivotal opportunities coming our way in 2023, and with them some significant challenges. We intend to meet them head on. But to do that we need your support. Please, if you can, play your part to see us through the next year by joining Dignity in Dying as a member today.

In Scotland, Liam McArthur MSP’s Assisted Dying Bill is due to take huge strides. In Westminster, the Health and Care Select Committee Inquiry will need careful engagement to ensure that the views of those our current, cruel law impacts most - dying Britons - stay at the heart of its process. In Jersey and the Isle of Man, there are likely to be crucial votes. Next year there is everything to play for. You can play your part by joining as a member today.

From landmark progress in Scotland, Jersey and the Isle of Man, to the Westminster debate secured by 155,000 signatures to our government petition. From defending the position of neutrality that the substantial majority of doctors voted for at the British Medical Association, to the new Health and Care Select Committee Inquiry. This has been a year of significant and sustained progress. Our members and supporters have played a pivotal role.

I want to personally thank you for everything you have done to get us to this point - every letter or email sent to your MP, every donation, every message of support to the Dignity in Dying team.

We’ll be in touch in the New Year with more opportunities to make a difference but for now, take a moment to see how far we’ve come.

All best wishes,

Sarah Wootton
