Meanwhile, Dan and his socialist Democrats support price control legislation (H.R. 3) that would empower the federal government to pick drug-company winners and losers, and, more importantly, H.R. 3 would devastate research and development of the new treatments and cures that enable Americans to live longer and better lives.
According to the Congressional Budget Office and other entities, the legislation Dan supports would block between 15 and 100 new pharmaceutical cures from reaching the marketplace over the next 10 years.
I support many reforms that will lower the price of prescription drugs: increased competition for generic drugs, require price uniformity (one pill, one price) and price transparency, among other policies.
But I will never vote for legislation that will curtail medical research and decrease development of the innovative cures that save the lives of patients challenged by serious, life-threatening diseases. To do so would be irresponsible, heartless and immoral.
