Dear John,
During Hanukkah, Jews celebrate many things...
Gratitude for the miracle of the oil that burned brightly for many nights. Courage from the Maccabees and their followers, who stood up together for their beliefs despite the odds. Coming together with family, friends and community to be a part of something greater than ourselves.
The candles we light during the holiday burn brighter as we unite to dispel the darkness of hatred, fear and intolerance.
As part of the ADL community, you bring light and amplify our voice by sharing our vision that antisemitism has no place in our communities, in our schools or online. We join with our allies against antisemitism and to unite against all hate — whenever people are targeted because of the color of their skin, their religion, the country they were born in or any reason they are seen as the “other.”
Each of us, as we embrace love and reject hate, is one small light that becomes part of a beacon to the world.
Happy holidays to you and yours from ADL,
