PASSAGE OF RESPECT FOR MARRIAGE ACT
Doris applauds the Senate and the House on the passage of the Respect for Marriage Act. Passing this legislation enshrines crucial protections for same-sex and interracial couples – and Doris was proud to vote yes. The passage of this bill is about a fundamental value that we each hold dear as human beings – the belief in and respect for the power of love to bond us together. That such power knows no bounds and should never again be constrained by prejudice and hate. Love wins again in this country, and we are standing firmly together for the right of every American to live and love free from discrimination.
PASSAGE OF Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Act
The House passed Doris’ bill, the Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Act, which reauthorizes the program for early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of deaf and hard-of-hearing newborns, infants, and young children. This proven program will be life changing for many infants and parents.
