John, Donald Trump, Kevin McCarthy, and their allies within the Fox News Misinformation Machine spent the last two years obsessively attacking me with imagined conspiracies and political grievances in the hopes of generating a Republican red wave.

Those attacks failed. It was Republicans’ worst midterm House campaign since the Kennedy administration. Their worst midterm Senate campaign since President Roosevelt.

Now, Kevin McCarthy and Sean Hannity are doubling down on this same failed strategy — with McCarthy spreading the same old misinformation, blaming me for Trump’s Russia and Ukraine misconduct, his mishandling of Covid-19, and more on Hannity’s Fox News show:

“Why should Adam Schiff — I said two years ago, he has destroyed the Intel Committee. He lied to the American public. First about the dossier, then he lied about his staff coordinating with the whistle-blower. He lied about having more than circumstantial evidence…And yes, Adam Schiff won’t be on there.”

John, just because Republicans underperformed expectations last month doesn’t mean we can afford to ignore false attacks like this. If he repeats these lies often enough, and we don’t respond, people may begin to believe them.

Kevin McCarthy is relentlessly attacking me before Sean Hannity’s millions of viewers on Fox News in an effort to win the loyalty of MAGA Republicans, including the QAnon followers in Congress that he needs to vote for him for Speaker. No matter how unhinged McCarthy’s attacks may be, we can’t give him a free pass to spread misinformation.
