Fight for $15

Dear John,

I am one of 48 janitors who used to clean Twitter headquarters in San Francisco.

We worked hard every day to keep Twitter clean and safe for their employees and visitors. But just a few weeks before the holidays we lost our good, union jobs cleaning the building when the tech giant did not renew the cleaning contract with our employer, with little notice to workers. So we went on an unfair labor practice strike to protest the layoffs. On the first day of the strike, Twitter terminated the contract with our employer. Effective immediately.

This is not right. And we’re not going quietly.

Will you sign the petition and help us fight to get our jobs back? [[link removed]]

We demand that cleaning companies, building owners and tech giants support good union jobs and get all 48 of us back to work. These are people’s lives we are talking about. This is my life we are talking about.

Overnight I don't have anything. How am I going to eat? How am I going to take care of my family? This is what happens when these billionaire companies don't respect union work. It's terrible.

And we’re not the only ones being treated poorly. Other contracted workers, like union culinary workers, lost their jobs at Twitter headquarters when Twitter cut its contracts with the companies that employed them, too.

That’s why today we’re marching from City Hall, past Twitter and through San Francisco to demand better for all of us, our families and our city!

And we won’t stop until we get our jobs back.
