Her book, Letters to A Future Champion – My Time with Mr. Pulver, caught Tim’s eye and he made it his book recommendation for last year’s Holiday Book guide. We chat with Dottie about her book, which is a tribute to her mentor Mr. Pulver and the life lessons he taught Dottie. We also talk a little public policy – what she thinks about California’s heavy taxation on athletes and all California residents, and the issue of name, image, and likeness rights for college athletes.

Republicans must grasp the opportunity for healthcare reform

Hospitals have been required to publish their prices since the beginning of last year, thanks to a rule issued during the Trump administration. But less than two-thirds of hospitals are compliant, according to research ([link removed]) published in the third quarter of 2022 by Turquoise Health. The government recently fined two Georgia hospitals for failing to publish their prices. Republicans must ensure that hospitals are held accountable on a wider scale.

Under the leadership of Gary Gensler, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is empowering activist investors to pursue their preferred politics and social causes at the expense of investors’ interests. According to a November 3, 2021 SEC staff memo Staff will no longer focus on determining the nexus between a policy issue and the company, but will instead focus on the social policy significance of the issue that is the subject of the shareholder proposal.
