“Our LAST HOPE is invoking Marshall Law!! PLEASE URGE TO PRESIDENT TO DO SO!!”

That’s what one Republican member of Congress, Rep. Ralph Norman of South Carolina, texted to Mark Meadows, Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff, on January 17, 2021 — just days before President Biden was to be sworn into office.

And Norman was not the only would-be seditionist in Congress who called for martial law (though he incorrectly spelled it “Marshall”) in communications with Meadows.

According to revelatory reporting this week from Talking Points Memo, no less than 34 Republicans in Congress exchanged text messages with Meadows about assorted schemes to overturn the 2020 election.

All told, there were at least 459 messages between Meadows and these Republican members of Congress — including high-profile Trumpist Republicans such as Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Rep. Jim Jordan (Ohio) — about efforts to keep Trump in power despite the undeniable fact that he lost.

These are the 34 congressional Republicans who corresponded via text message with Donald Trump’s Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, about plans to overturn the 2020 election:

Thanks for taking action.

For democracy,
