Did you know it costs about $150 an hour to provide free financial counseling to a CMCA member? This cost reflects our coach’s time and the materials used to support our members as they build a viable plan toward financial stability. Through our 2022 CoMoGives campaign, we’ve raised enough funds to provide 32 hours of financial coaching. While that’s a lot, it’s not nearly enough! Your gift today will ensure that MORE of our clients have access to our Financial Opportunity Center Model program.
How has the Financial Opportunity (FOC) Center Model Program helped our CMCA Members? Meet Katie!
Alice enrolled in the FOC Program in July of 2021. Her goal was to pay down her medical bills, credit card bills, and car loans. She also wanted to maintain her employment. Her goal was to set and maintain a monthly budget. FOC Coach Emma suggested that she track her receipts to see her spending. She also suggested changing payment dates toward the later part of the month to help balance expenses. Working with Emma, Alice did these and other things to improve her income and reduce expenses. She began paying extra toward her credit cards and changed her thinking about spending. Today, Alice chooses to pay more toward her credit card bill and foregoes spending money on unnecessary things. Since starting the FOC program, Katie has paid off $600 medical debt and increased her monthly net income from $47.57 to $267.25.
The impact of the FOC program, like other CMCA programs, is immeasurable to the individuals who are supported and our community. Every person who improves their financial stability becomes a contributing member of our community.
