don't repair."
John,
I’m grateful you took the time to open this email.
My name is Uchenna Moka-Solana, chief technology officer at Color Of
Change. [ [link removed] ]In a moment, I’d like to ask you to make a contribution so that
we can take our work to new heights in 2023.
But first, let me tell you why I’m here.
I joined Color Of Change because it is one of the few independent
organizations working to hold the government, the media and corporations
accountable for their impact on people and communities that I love. During
the past year, my team has worked hard to improve the lives of Black
people across the country and to ensure that our people have what they
need not just to survive, but to live full, joyful lives.
Like you, I saw companies of all kinds claiming to care about racial
justice in the wake of the George Floyd uprisings. But once the dust
settled, those same companies went right back to business as usual —
underpaying Black workers, funding political campaigns to disenfranchise
our communities and allowing dangerous, racist misinformation to spread
like wildfire, all for the sake of profit.
In the past year, we have worked to expose corporations that send out
press releases about loving Black people and then push the price of food
out of reach for people in our communities.
We have waged campaigns that celebrate and preserve Black history for the
next generation while shining a light on the right wing’s ongoing attacks
on our education system.

[ [link removed] ]John, if you can afford it, will you chip in $25 or an
amount powerful enought make an impact before the Dec. 31 deadline?
Before I worked at Color Of Change, I worked with federal, state and local
government agencies to build products, fix technical problems and improve
how the U.S. government serves the public through technology.
So I know firsthand that when amateurs like Elon Musk are allowed to
hijack tech platforms such as Twitter, the people in our communities
suffer the most. That’s just not right.
In 2023, we plan to continue our work to neutralize the threat Musk’s
actions pose to the most vulnerable members of our communities and to our
very democracy.
[ [link removed] ]John, I’m passionate about leveraging my experience to
catalyze positive social and technological change. Trust me when I say
that what we raise here will have a major impact on what we’re able to
accomplish going forward.
It has been inspiring and humbling to see what results when we work
together to bring about real change for our communities. We don’t take
money from corporations or greedy lobbyists because the integrity of our
work depends on our ability to answer to members like you and not to
businesses who could care less what happens to our communities. That means
we are counting on direct contributions from the people and communities we
are fighting for — people like you and your loved ones.

Color Of Change has what it takes to create campaigns we need to hold bad
actors accountable. I know we can compel tech platforms like Twitter to
work for our communities, instead of the other way around. But I also know
that building the kind of power we need to defeat billionaires in the
corporate and tech space will take time, deep strategy and resources.
Thank you for helping us celebrate families, youth, and our dedicated
educators who are under tremendous pressure this holiday season. We’re
grateful for your continued support and appreciate you for sticking with
us for as long as you have.
With gratitude and until justice is real,
Uchenna Moka-Solana (she/hers)
