We’ve just witnessed a major step forward in the fight for LGBTQ rights. President Biden has signed the Respect for Marriage Act, which will enshrine marriage equality in federal law.
This is a momentous occasion worth celebrating, but we must also remember LGBTQ rights remain under attack by state legislatures. In the first three months of 2022 alone, state lawmakers proposed a record 238 anti-LGBTQ bills, more than half of which take aim at transgender people in particular.
As a member of both the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus and the Transgender Equality Task Force, Ro is committed to ending workplace discrimination, school bullying, healthcare disparities, and other barriers that stand in the way of the LGBTQ community’s well-being. He is the dedicated advocate and ally we need in Congress as we prepare for the House to revert to Republican leadership in January.
