Dear John,
For too long, our nation's responses to violence have only perpetuated cycles of trauma and harm. With the Break the Cycle of Violence Act, Congress has an opportunity to invest in the people and organizations that are preventing violence every day in communities across the country.
The bill has passed through the House of Representatives and now we need your help encouraging the Senate to pass the bill as well.

The Break the Cycle of Violence Act will, for the first time, prioritize treating violence as a public health crisis. This historic legislation will create an Office of Community Violence Intervention at the Department of Health and Human Services to fund evidence-based strategies that make our communities safer and stronger.

The Break the Cycle of Violence Act is an important step toward recognizing that over-policing and mass incarceration don't build public safety.
In fact, they cause further harm, especially in communities of color. Passage of this bill will move us toward the safety, healing, and accountability that communities need.
Communities directly impacted by trauma are the most knowledgeable and experienced with how to address and heal that trauma, begin repair, and end violence. Through federal grants and deeper investment into community-based strategies to curb violence, the Break the Cycle of Violence Act will center community expertise in the development and implementation of strategies that we know work to make our neighborhoods safe.
Your Senators need to hear from you. Take action to urge them to support the Break the Cycle of Violence Act now. [[link removed]]
