Yesterday, we launched our End-of-Year Campaign with an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 before the books close on 2022.
Why such an ambitious goal? Well, to be honest, this has been one of our hardest years ever, and we need a strong finish to put us on solid ground for the year to come.
Facebook's and Google’s algorithms have changed in ways that deprioritize progressive, nonprofit news outlets like Common Dreams in their news feeds and search results. This makes it hard for new readers to find us while boosting corporate outlets that funnel profits and user data into the surveillance vacuum of Big Tech.
Fewer new readers means fewer new supporters for our work, even as our costs go up across the board for everything from staff health insurance plans to web server maintenance and office rent.
Meanwhile, our progressive nonprofit journalism has never been more needed, with the climate emergency accelerating, inequality soaring, and democracy under threat around the world.
That’s why this is our most important year-end
fundraising campaign ever.
Common Dreams is a 100% people-powered news site, funded entirely by readers. We never charge a fee to read our reporting, and we’ve never taken a dime of corporate advertising.
