Last month, Palestinian terrorists detonated two bombs in Jerusalem, killing two Israelis (including a teenager) and injuring many others.
This is among the latest in a string of Palestinian terror attacks that have killed 29 Israelis this year alone.
The Palestinian Authority has lost control in several major cities in the West Bank, allowing terror groups to take over. And the situation is only getting worse.
The rise in Palestinian terrorism began last spring, when a series of brutal terrorist attacks killed 19 innocent Israelis.
It continued into the fall, when there were 212 terror attacks in September alone and more than one shooting attack PER DAY.
Palestinian terrorists have used 139 Molotov cocktails and planned 53 pipe bomb attacks. Over the past year, 500 additional terror attacks were foiled according to a report by the IDF.
Meanwhile, the PA's heinous pay-to-slay program incentivizes terrorism with hundreds of millions of dollars sent to the families of attackers. After the bombing last month, Palestinians distributed sweets to celebrate the deadly attack.
The annual $3.3 billion in critical American security aid to Israel, as well as $500 million for lifesaving missile defense programs like Iron Dome, doesn’t happen without our efforts.
America must continue to support our ally Israel as it works to protect its citizens from terror attacks.
The U.S. must pressure the Palestinian Authority to end its political posturing, increase security cooperation with Israel and take decisive actions against terrorism in the West Bank.
AIPAC is working every day to advocate for all this, and much more.
Sincerely,
Brian Shankman
Chief Strategy Director for National Affairs
