Culture is pivotal to our work.

<[link removed]>
Hey John,

Culture surrounds us - it shapes who we are and who we aspire to be. As individuals, as a community, and as a country. Culture affirms the big stories that we tell about ourselves and each other and promotes the narratives that define us. Which is why culture is pivotal to our work.

But popular culture often amplifies messages that perpetuate stereotypes and harmful narratives that separate and divide us. Too often, popular culture does not represent the diverse reality of our world or the inclusive future we are striving for - a future of opportunity, equity, and justice.

At TOA we work in community with our vibrant network of over 1,000 creatives, artists, and cultural strategists, amplifying their work and their voices. We also provide unique spaces for generating connection and heightening creativity – like our annual Creative Change Retreat. And we do it free of charge.

This year, through our new Culture & Narrative Fellowship program, we provided five bold and talented artists with in-depth narrative trainings, access to our network of creatives, and a $15,000 stipend towards projects tackling economic justice narratives.
