Hi John.

I hope you and your family are well. As we look forward to the Holidays, I wanted to pass along a few updates on how my team and I are working you. We’re always here to serve every person and corner of our community – regardless of party.

Passed: The Bipartisan Respect for Marriage Act

I’m pleased to share some exciting news! The bipartisan Respect for Marriage Act is now law.

Our bipartisan law finally gives millions of families more stability and more hope. By enshrining marriage equality into federal law, it finally protects the fundamental right to marry who you love.

I was honored to join with my colleagues in the Equality Caucus to commemorate its passage in the House.

Kansans and people across the country have felt fear and anxiety since Roe v. Wade was overturned.

Many freedoms were called into question or stripped away. That includes marriage equality for same-sex couples, which was threatened by Justice Thomas in the decision that overruled Roe.

The Respect for Marriage Act is a bipartisan and concrete step that protects those freedoms. I’m proud to have introduced this bill to help lessen these fears and provide stability to families.

The Respect for Marriage Act shows that both parties can come together to protect the rights of all Americans. The last thing anyone needs is more extremism and empty promises.

Moving forward, I’ll keep doing everything I can to protect our fundamental liberties. That certainly includes reproductive rights.

Improving Internet Access with the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law

Recently, I was glad to celebrate the first anniversary of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. As Vice Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I worked with Republicans and Democrats to pass this historic legislation.

One of its key focuses is expanding access to broadband. Every community, whether urban or rural, should have high-speed internet access.

Now, we need accurate data to fulfill the law’s promise. You can help make that happen in only five minutes >>

Please click here to access the National Broadband Map to verify your information and internet access.

Just as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law is helping to rebuild our roads and bridges, it’s also helping to expand broadband internet access. In fact, recently, I announced new funding from the infrastructure law to close the digital divide in Kansas.

Accurate internet access data will help ensure our state receives the federal resources it needs.

Here’s what to do:

1. Visit broadbandmap.fcc.gov and search for your address.

2. If the location information (address, etc.) is wrong, click LOCATION CHALLENGE. Then submit a correction.

3. If availability information (internet speed, provider access, etc.) is wrong, click AVAILABILITY CHALLENGE. Then submit a correction.

The more people who utilize this tool, the better! Please feel free to forward this information to anyone you know!

New Support for Kansas City Community College

I worked multiple jobs to help pay my way through college, and understand how hard it can be to afford a degree. Higher education and vocational training should be available for everyone – not just those who can afford it.

That’s why I’m pleased to share that the National Science Foundation has awarded a new grant to Kansas City Community College.

Please click here to learn more about this grant and how it’ll help make a difference.

I've been a strong supporter of our local educational institutions, including Kansas City Kansas Community College. For instance, I was glad to help secure federal support for their Automation Engineering Technology Program.

This grant supports high-achieving students with modest incomes. It means scholarships for 30 full-time students who are pursuing a degree with a biology emphasis.

Our country needs to help students pursue degrees in groundbreaking fields – including in science, technology, math, and engineering.

It’s an incredible honor to serve you in the U.S. House of Representatives.
