Dear NRDC Activist,

Breaking news: NRDC recently moved to join a lawsuit
against the state of Utah to stop them from gutting protections
for the Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante national
monuments.

We must prevent these irreplaceable public lands from being
handed over to the fossil fuel industry. That's why we're
marshaling resources for the new NRDC Legal Fund to wage
courtroom battles at every level and stop the juggernaut of
right-wing-fueled legal attacks threatening our wild lands and
our planet's future.

Our goal: raise $100,000 to fight back. Will you make a $5
donation to the NRDC Legal Fund? Your gift will DOUBLE to help
defend our environment against a barrage of legal attacks — but
only until Friday, 12/23! ( [link removed]

The Trump administration illegally slashed Bears Ears
National Monument by 85% and reduced Grand Staircase-Escalante
National Monument to nearly half its original size. Their goal
was to open these priceless lands to dirty fossil fuel companies
for mining and drilling, which would ravage the land, contaminate
the air and water for local communities, and lock in more
climate-polluting emissions during a climate crisis. But last
year, thankfully, President Biden restored these national
monuments.

Now, extreme, anti-environment politicians are suing to
roll back these restored protections and attack a bedrock law —
the Antiquities Act — that presidents have relied on for more
than a century to protect some of our most beloved places.

And if they succeed in destroying the Antiquities Act, it
doesn't stop in Utah. National monuments across the United States
would be at risk. We can't let that happen.

This is URGENT: Donate to the NRDC Legal Fund before
midnight on 12/23 and every dollar you give will be DOUBLED, up
to $100,000. Even $5 helps! ( [link removed]

Thank you — from me and the incredible team of lawyers here
at NRDC.

And polluters? We'll see you in court.

Sincerely,

Mitch

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Who is the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC)?

Founded in 1970, NRDC combines the expertise of some 700
scientists, lawyers, and advocates with the power of more than 3
million members and online activists to confront our planet's
most pressing problems.

We believe all people deserve the right to clean air,
clean water, and healthy communities.

How does my gift make an impact?

Your donation powers NRDC's team of lawyers, scientists,
and campaigners who are fighting in and out of court to protect
our environment.

NRDC knows how to use the courts to uphold the law and
will do it whenever necessary — no matter who is president.

NRDC's renowned team of environmental litigators filed
more than 150 lawsuits against the Trump Administration's
unlawful actions. Of the cases that have been preliminarily or
finally resolved, NRDC has scored victories in nearly 90 percent
so far!

What are the most urgent threats facing our environment?

After Trump packed federal courts, including the Supreme
Court, everything is on the table: clean air, clean water,
imperiled wildlife, and our one remaining chance to avert a
complete climate catastrophe.

America's biggest polluters are poised to launch a
barrage of attacks aimed squarely at taking down the very pillars
of environmental protection.
