At the Urban Institute, we are committed to more than simply providing data and research; we are also working with partners across the country to put that research into action. Today, I’m excited to share with you the first of two stories about how Urban is bringing our data-driven solutions to the people and places that need them most. Let me introduce you to WorkRise.
WorkRise is a national platform for identifying, testing, and sharing bold ideas for transforming the labor market. We do this by:
funding research on promising practices and policies underway across the county
generating data that strengthen employers and provide genuine economic mobility and security for workers, including those in marginalized communities
convening and collaborating with often-siloed groups, with a variety of perspectives, to ensure labor market solutions are relevant and scalable
But WorkRise goes a step further to ensure its research is put into action:
In October, WorkRise invested more than $2.5 million in nine pilot projects that will test and evaluate public- and private-sector labor market interventions. These projects are designed to strengthen economic security and mobility for workers earning low wages by accelerating promising real-world solutions that can be quickly scaled and adopted.
Innovative efforts like WorkRise are possible only with your support, and we would be honored to earn it this year. Thanks to a generous donor, your gift today will be doubled.
Thank you for being part of the Urban community, and happy holidays.
All best,
Erin Kundolf
