Thank you and happy holidays

As the curtain falls on 2022, we want to thank you for your continued support for Forum for the Future’s work and to highlight just some of the key moments the last 12 months have brought.

On behalf of all of us at Forum, happy holidays.

A snapshot of 2022

A new strategy
In September, Forum announced its 2023-2025 strategy outlining three pivotal transitions that we will focus on in our efforts to create a just and regenerative future in which both people and the planet thrive. Our strategy focuses on enabling deep transformation in how we think about, produce, consume and value both food and energy, and in the purpose of business in society and the economy.

website or in our exclusive insights on the what, why and how of just and regenerative; deep transformation versus shallow transition; and the latest trends impacting sustainability in the UK, US and Asia.

The Future of Sustainability
2022 saw the continuation of our Future of Sustainability: Looking Back to Go Forward series, in which we set out to understand what the past can teach us about our future.

Recognising that more than three decades of sustainability efforts have not got us where we need to be, we explored lessons learned from across the sustainability movement, published new and exclusive insights from diverse voices on how the world is responding to today’s challenges, and analysed what it all meant for where we should focus.

Our in-depth exploration showed us that while progress has been held back, six things can propel us forward...

Regenerative agriculture in the US
As regenerative approaches in the United States gain momentum, how do we ensure that the transition to a regenerative food and agriculture system supports equitable economic prosperity while allowing people and the planet to flourish long term?

In June, the Growing our Future community launched its latest report on the country’s food system transformation, while Forum’s Technical Lead, Mary McCarthy, reflected on what’s next for regenerative agriculture and whether collaborations can influence the way change-makers feel, think, act and partner.

Climate and health
As the link between climate change and human health becomes increasingly clear, the private sector is uniquely placed to step up. But how?

At COP27, the Climate and Health Coalition, a collaboration convened by Forum and including Bupa, Haleon, Reckitt and Walgreens Boots Alliance, launched the latest guidance for the private sector on how to urgently tackle what is now recognised as a complex dual challenge.

Responsible energy
Beyond mitigating climate change, what value can renewable energy create? As part of the Responsible Energy Initiative in May, global and national leaders across India launched a collective vision and range of key principles for a responsible energy system.

The Initiative is a multi-year programme working to ensure renewable energy in Asia achieves its full potential and creates value in a way that is ecologically safe, rights-respecting and socially just.
