Your Doom Will Be Temporarily Delayed

What to Know: Glacier National Park is removing signs that warned its glaciers will be “gone by 2020.”

The TPPF Take: Climate alarmism has an ever-growing list of prophecies that didn’t materialize.

“In the meantime, the wizards of inventors and hard-working men and women have continued to make humanity more prosperous,” says TPPF’s Brent Bennett. “We need to focus less on the prophecies that will inevitably be inaccurate and keep fostering the wizards that will actually create our future.”

1776, Not 1619

What to Know: Writing in The Atlantic, Conor Friedersdorf says support is waning for the New York Times Magazine’s 1619 Project, which reframes American history, solely in terms of slavery.

The TPPF Take: The story of America is much more than the story of slavery and its consequences.

“America did not invent slavery, nor did it introduce slavery to the continent,” says TPPF’s Tom Lindsay. “America is not unique in having the sin of slavery in its history; it is unique, however, in being the only nation ‘dedicated to the proposition that ‘all men are created equal.’”

Movin’ Out

What to Know: California and Illinois continue to lose residents to lower-tax states like Texas and Florida, according to U-Haul.

The TPPF Take: People are coming to low-tax states like Texas for economic opportunity and the freedom to prosper.

“I spent most of my adult life in California and served in the California Assembly,” says TPPF’s Chuck DeVore. “But in 2011, I brought my family to Texas. We came here for the freedom—and the greater opportunity to prosper.”
