A blowout. A shellacking. A red tsunami.
JOhn, a lot of pundits seemed pretty sure about how this year's midterm elections were supposed to go for Democrats and declared things to be a disaster well before polls closed — but through our hard work, we proved them wrong.
Democrats expanded their majority in the Senate. We gained governorships. We flipped four state legislative chambers from red to blue. We kept our House losses to a minimum, protecting many of our most vulnerable incumbents and leaving us in a strong position to retake the chamber in 2024.
It's going to be a seat-by-seat fight for the majority next cycle, and after I had my closest race ever, I fully expect Republicans to make early investments in VA-10. Can you help me prepare for another tough fight by pitching in $10 or more now?

Democrats massively outperformed expectations and historical trends because we had a real record of results to run on. We passed historic economic relief that helped millions who had struggled during the heights of the pandemic. We expanded infrastructure. We passed the first climate bill in a generation. And we made it easier for folks to afford life-saving prescription drugs.
While it's disappointing that we won't have a House majority for the next two years to further build upon these successes, it's clear that the American people valued our policy agenda over the extremism of the GOP. Republicans who aligned themselves with election deniers lost across the board, and voters consistently lifted up proud pro-choice Democrats in the first midterm since Roe v. Wade was overturned.
So JOhn, I'm ready to keep fighting for our values. I'll continue to champion the policies that strengthen the middle class, protect our environment, create jobs, and expand opportunity. I'll be a voice for women, LGBTQ+ folks, and anyone whose rights are threatened by today's far right. And I'll always defend the tenets of our democracy that allow for free and fair elections.
I know that my principles will make me a GOP target yet again. And we saw this past cycle just how fast a district like VA-10 can shift from appearing safe, to looking like a tossup. So I’m already starting to lay the groundwork for a robust campaign operation.
