Welcome to The Agenda (yeah - THAT agenda), your weekly update on what's happening in the LGBTQ political world. Whatever you do, don’t forward it to Mike Pence. He doesn't need to know what we're planning! Forward it to a friend instead.

Overview: We're back for a brand new year with a brand new slate of LGBTQ candidates.
SO! MANY! ENDORSEMENTS!
We’re ready to announce our first round of endorsements for 2020: meet our newest candidates!
Our newest endorsement for California’s 53rd Congressional District, Georgette Gomez, also announced endorsements from labor leader and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, the Congressional Progressive Caucus PAC and the California Environmental Justice Alliance!
Kyle Meraz, our candidate for Oklahoma House of Representatives District 64, is running against an incumbent who defines marriage as “between one man and one woman." We’re going to enjoy this race.
Pennsylvania state Representative Brian Sims rallied with teachers and parents to address unsafe conditions in Pennsylvania’s schools.
DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS
New poll alert: Spotlight candidate Eliz Markowitz and her opponent are tied in her special election for House District 28, which takes place on January 28! Another piece of good news? Vice President Joe Biden also endorsed Eliz.
While that’s great news for a lot of reasons, the poll comes at a perfect time. Early voting has begun and the clock is ticking.
And while Eliz is focused on winning her own race, she’s ready to support other candidates working to flip Texas, like Victory Fund-endorsed Ann Johnson, running in House District 134.
Shawn Terry, Victory Fund's endorsed candidate for House District 108, is also hard at work. Find out his plan for Dallas in his latest campaign ad:

RAINBOW WAVE 2020
Big week: Pete Buttigieg announced an endorsement from Maryland Congressman Anthony G. Brown, released four new campaign ads and is polling first in New Hampshire.
The most consequential election in Michigan in decades? We agree – and we bet our Congressional candidate Jon Hoadley does as well.
A great fundraising quarter for Mondaire Jones – he raised $488K in 2019, giving him a competitive edge in New York’s 17th Congressional district.
Ritchie Torres joined his competitors to discuss LGBTQ issues in New York’s 15th Congressional District. Read the rundown of the debate here.

MOMENT OF ZEN
“Social media is absolutely toxic to women politicians. It’s much more virulent to me as a woman than as an out lesbian. Remarks about the way l look, what I weigh, or how I dress — aspects of femininity — escalate into threats of physical violence.” – President & CEO Mayor Annise Parker on being an openly LGBTQ woman in public office
To end on a happier note: Justin Bramhall is fighting to become Kentucky’s first openly LGBTQ state representative, in what he describes as “a fight for Kentucky’s future”. Catch up with his campaign.

Paid for by the LGBTQ Victory Fund and not authorized by any candidate or candidate's committee.

LGBTQ Victory Fund has helped thousands of openly LGBTQ candidates win elections up and down the ballot, from sea to shining sea since our founding in 1991. We believe representation is power – so we elected U.S. Senators Tammy Baldwin and Kyrsten Sinema, Governors Jared Polis and Kate Brown, all seven LGBTQ members of U.S. Congress and countless candidates for state and local government, including Virginia Delegate Danica Roem, Colorado state Representative Leslie Herod and Pennsylvania Assemblymember Brian Sims. And with an unprecedented number of LGBTQ people running for office in this year, we’ll need your support to make 2020 the next Rainbow Wave.
