Hi John,

10 years ago today, tragedy struck here in Connecticut and 26 lives were taken at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The tragedy weighs on me, and with every passing year I grow more frustrated by Congress’s inability to meaningfully address the threats of gun violence that plague our children and schools. The best way we can ever honor the 26 victims is by ensuring it never happens again.

John, I vow to work on reducing gun violence every day that I serve in Congress, in the hope that no parent ever has to endure what the parents of those twenty children experienced on December 14, 2012.

On this solemn day, let us all be inspired by the example of Sandy Hook survivors who have turned their grief into action to make our schools and communities safer.

Respectfully,

Joe Courtney
