ASAN is hiring for a Grassroots Associate position, as well as two interns for Spring 2023: an intern in policy and an intern in programs and communications. Consider becoming a part of the team!
The Grassroots Associate provides program coordination to ASAN’s Operations team, working specifically on community engagement and leadership development programs. They will assist in planning events and provide administrative support. They will work closely with ASAN’s Deputy Director of Operations. The job is a salaried position paying $57,000/year with comprehensive health insurance and up to 5 weeks of paid time off per year.
The Grassroots Associate will work at ASAN’s Washington, DC office when it is safe to resume in-person work, but can start remotely and discuss a timetable for relocating to DC.
For more information and a breakdown of responsibilities, see the posting here.
We’ve also opened up applications for an internship in policy, as well as an internship in programs and communications! The Spring internships will begin February 2023 and end May 2023. Interns will work with ASAN staff to figure out what professional skills they would like to work on, and how we can best support them.
The Programs & Communications intern will work closely with the Operations team to help with events, resources, and communications tasks. They’ll have a chance to learn to manage a social media presence across multiple platforms, translate documents into Plain Language and Easy Read, prepare programs and webinars, and more!
The Policy intern will be expected to help track policy issues, conduct research, and prepare presentations as well as attending some internal and external meetings. This position requires basic research and writing skills. Many people learn these skills in college or university education, but people can also learn these skills through experience, such as jobs or volunteer work. Either is acceptable for this internship. If you are an undergraduate student, we are asking that you be in your third year or later when the internship starts. Candidates should have a strong interest in public policy, but previous policy experience is not needed
For more information on either internship and a breakdown of responsibilities, see the posting here.
We strongly encourage autistic people of color, AAC users, and members of the LGBTQ community to apply.
Parties interested in the Grassroots Associate position should send their resume and cover letter to [email protected].

Your writing sample can be any piece of writing you have written that is a good example of your skill. It should be at least one page long.
