I want to tell you about a train.
Last week I attended a groundbreaking for the Metro-North Penn Station Access Project in the Bronx. This addition of four new stations and extension of Metro-North service all the way to Penn Station will be a transformative project for people throughout NY-16 and the New York area.
Partnering with Governor Hochul, Senator Schumer, and my fellow representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ritchie Torres, I'm proud to be bringing better public transit to our community.
John, being in Congress is about fighting for transformative progressive change like the Green New Deal and Medicare for All. But it's also about simply making our community better.
500,000 people live within a mile of these new train stations. Even more will benefit from better Metro-North and Amtrak service. That's thousands of commute times shortened, thousands of people with easier access to family, education, and health care, and a dent in our region's air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.
I'm able to do this work because of all of you, so thank you. Your grassroots support means that I'm accountable to our community, not corporate PAC money from big oil or the auto industry or anyone else who may oppose a new train.
We spent way too long underinvesting in infrastructure for communities like ours. Thank you for your support as we continue the important work of making progress.
