People are feeling the impacts of climate change around the world — from worsening drought, floods and fire conditions to shifts in agriculture and fisheries productivity. Our ability to adapt to these changes is deeply intertwined with nature.

Here are a few ways we are partnering with affected communities to ensure they can build resilience as the climate changes:

# This November, New Yorkers passed a $4.2 billion bond act — the largest of its kind — to protect clean drinking water, preserve open space and family farms, fight climate change, make communities more resilient and support more than 100,000 jobs. EDF led an education and action campaign and supported a coalition of more than 100 organizations committed to passing the bill.
# After extensive work with EDF, the Farmers Business Network launched a new farm operating loan that includes a lower interest rate for farmers who achieve climate-smart and water-quality benchmarks set by EDF. The $25 million pilot fund became FBN’s fastest selling financial product and will be expanded to $50 million in 2023.
# EDF and partners helped launch California’s new Multibenefit Land Repurposing Program. It provides economic support for landowner projects on farmland that uses less irrigated water, addresses water scarcity and the changing agricultural landscape, and prioritizes the needs of underserved communities.
