Dear Barrier To Entry PAC Supporters,
In case you missed it: Our Barrier To Entry candidate named Shenise Turner-Sloss won a critical city commission seat in Dayton earlier this election cycle.
Now, Commissioner Turner-Sloss is holding the progressive line on a corrupt city council — and she’s notably the only woman, Black woman, and mother at the table.
Shenise made it clear last week that she is not taking shit anymore from the all-male, conservative City Council that has been running a muck in Dayton. Check this out!
For years, community members have begged for transparency and an opportunity to weigh into the city budget. Instead, Democratic leaders have ignored the public’s demands and instead voted to fund ineffective and controversial militarized police technology.
Since her election however, Shenise has stood up to them. The establishment tries to bully her. Their cronies try to smear her to the community and say that she is only here to play politics and cause drama.
But Shenise’s critics learned a hard lesson: she is and will continue to be a loud voice for accountability and equity, and she is not one to back down.
Here’s the best news: Ultimately, Shenise leveraged her position of power to force $1M in funding to be reallocated to a youth development fund.
We are so damn proud of this woman!
As the top vote-getter by a longshot in a crowded open race, Shenise brought her ally Darryl along with her across the finish line with her to be an added voice and form a progressive voting block on Council.
Shenise does all of this work with the fervent support of Barrier To Entry PAC, and we could not be prouder to be a part of her team of supporters. Together, we are supporting a strong leader who is building power in a community hungry for change.
John, the best part is — we know this is only the beginning. There is still so much work to be done together. Can we count on you to make a contribution of $22 to help us fill back up our coiffures so we can support the next round of local leaders? There are critical races in 2023 and we cannot sit on the sidelines.
Together, we can.
