Fulfillment Fund

Dear John,

I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you about David, who, like many of our students, felt daunted by the cost of college and the burden of debt typically associated with it. While he began his journey with us early on in high school, by his senior year, his close relationship with his Fulfillment Fund College Counselor allowed him to learn about and apply to colleges that would maximize financial support so he could keep his college debt to a minimum. David ultimately received comprehensive financial aid and a Fulfillment Fund Scholarship to attend Dickinson College. He continued receiving support from our team and graduated Cum Laude in just three years, debt-free.

Currently, lawmakers are still deciding on the fate of the federal loan forgiveness program, which would forgive up to $20,000 of educational debt for Pell Grant recipients (students with the greatest financial need, such as the ones we serve). Loan forgiveness would make a world of difference to college graduates still saddled by their school loans, but for our current students, the Pell Grant now only covers about 30% of college expenses (vs. 80% when the program was created in 1973). The prospect of attending college and paying for it is still daunting, especially for lower-income students.

While the national discourse has turned our attention to college costs and better policies are being debated, our students’ futures cannot wait. They need us now to help them overcome obstacles and pursue their dreams of a better life through education. Are you with us?

With gratitude,

Fulfillment Fund CEO
