Funding for Affordable Housing: Lowering the Bond Test
California residents deserve affordable housing now. This is why we’ve partnered with our members, the California legislature housing chairs, and the state's largest city mayors to urge federal lawmakers to lower the 50% bond test before the end of the year, a critical reform that could mean an additional $3 billion for affordable housing development throughout the nation! Big thank you to everyone that signed on to these letters in support of more funding for affordable housing development as we take important steps to get California residents housed!
“If a congregation is willing to share their extra land with the community, we should say thank you. If they’re willing to house the homeless, we should say thank you. If a college is willing to put a roof over a low-income family’s head, we should thank them and welcome the opportunity in our community, ” NPH Policy Director Abram Diaz said at the press conference announcing the new legislation.
