The governor general is wasting your money like crazy. And you need to join the fight to stop the frivolous spending. 
 
Thousands of Canadian Taxpayers Federation supporters signed our petition calling on politicians to rein in the governor general’s perks. They emailed members of Parliament to tell them to do their jobs and hold big-spending bureaucrats accountable.
 
Their work is paying off. But the fight isn’t over and we need your help. 
 
The governor general and her entourage billed taxpayers nearly $100,000 for fancy airplane food during their week-long trip to the Middle East back in March. The Canadian Taxpayers Federation discovered that the flight meals included Beef Wellington, Beef Carpaccio and apple and cranberry stuffed pork tenderloin.
 
The entire trip cost taxpayers more than $1 million. They enjoyed fabulous feasts. But what did you get for that $1 million?
 
After thousands of Canadians emailed members of Parliament calling on them to hold the governor general and her big-spending bureaucrats accountable, politicians acted. The governor general’s bureaucrats were grilled before a parliamentary committee and changes are in the works.
 
Thanks to the efforts of taxpayers across the country, the governor general’s bureaucrats will be forced to reduce some costs on flights, such as limiting meal choices. This will save taxpayers money.
 
But there’s still more work to do. Some MPs are trying to force the governor general and her bureaucrats to post their receipts online.
 
Taxpayers deserve nothing less.
