Snohomish County Launches Grant Program for Flood Risk Reduction Projects

Snohomish County is releasing a Flood Risk Reduction grant application to fund projects that mitigate harms posed by potential flooding, with?a focus on projects that preserve housing, small businesses, and meet the needs of disproportionately impacted populations. The grant is funded by the County?s federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) allocation.

The County?s Flood Risk Reduction grant seeks capital construction projects that mitigate the risk of river and coastal flooding as well as planning and design projects that prepare for future flood mitigation construction projects. Capital and planning funding is as follows:

  • Capital Construction: Projects that are eligible for construction funding may apply for a minimum of $250,000 up to $2 million.
  • Planning & Design: Projects that support planning, scoping, and design for future flood risk reduction construction projects may apply for a minimum of $100,000.

The County will also host one remote technical assistance session for interested applicants; attendance at this session is strongly recommended. The session will take place on January 5, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
