Each vigil brought the community together. Houses of worship, community groups, local leaders and survivors gathered to share stories and hold hands. They wept and remembered.
Through the tears, their resolve was clear: ensure another life isn’t lost to this preventable crisis.
Here’s my promise to you: CeaseFirePA will not turn away from the weight of loss. We will stand with survivors. We will not forget those no longer with us. We will lift up their stories. We will not allow legislators to forget how their failure to act costs lives. We will demand action.
We will continue to bring people together who understand the toll of this violence. Doctors sewing up bullet wounds. Faith leaders presiding over too many funerals. Veterans who’ve lost their fellow soldiers to suicide. Parents terrified that the next school call will be about a mass shooting. And kids, learning how to hide and fight, not about algebra and Shakespeare.
We won’t give up. Thank you for being in this fight with us.
Sincerely,
Adam Garber

PS. When we get to 20 years from Sandy Hook, I’d like to tell a different story. It’d be one where the gun violence crisis is in the past because we built a movement to save lives. Help power it.
