NOVEMBER 2022
Dear Friend ,
The grassroots pro-Israel community has done it again. Thanks to supporters like you this entire election cycle, the 118th Congress will feature a strong, bipartisan pro-Israel majority that will advance our shared values. The massive outpouring of support for our candidates – including victors in some of the most competitive “key races” across the country like Reps. Don Bacon, Dina Titus, Young Kim, Susie Lee, Chris Pappas, Michelle Steel, Brian Fitzpatrick, and more – reflect what we all know to be true: being pro-Israel isn’t just good, commonsense policy that makes the entire world safer, more secure, and more prosperous, it’s good politics. An incredible 99% of our endorsed candidates won their races – a resounding success.
With the end-of-year holiday season right around the corner, I’m thankful for the entire Pro-Israel America grassroots community and your involvement to ensure a strong U.S.-Israel relationship that brings us all closer to peace.
Best,
Jeff

READ: Times of Israel: “The U.S.-Israel relationship won the midterms”: As Democrats celebrate holding onto the Senate and Republicans applaud their flipping control of the House, the pro-Israel community can cheer that the true winner of the 2022 election was the U.S.-Israel relationship. Americans cast their votes from all corners of the nation, and the result was a massive outpouring of support for commonsense policymakers who uphold the U.S-Israel relationship. With each win, the pro-Israel community demonstrated the positive impact of its political advocacy to ensure a bipartisan pro-Israel majority in the 118th Congress. READ: Times of Israel: “Combating False, Poisonous Anti-Israel Narratives on College Campuses”: For many Jewish students, this back-to-school season has unfortunately meant returning to increasingly hostile college campuses. In recent years, a growing number of students have reported heightened levels of antisemitism and hostility toward Israel on their campuses – a direct result of the anti-Israel movement’s misinformation crusade to demonize Israel as a racist/genocidal/apartheid/inhumane country. Not only is Israel portrayed as the worst kind of country, but its very existence is also made out to be criminal. In truth, however, a strong, vibrant Israel is a necessary sanctuary from antisemitism and is the best hope for a peaceful Middle East. 🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 [[link removed]] Hold the U.N. accountable for its anti-Israel bias. The COI Elimination Act — introduced by Reps. Greg Steube (R-FL), Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) and Joe Wilson (R-SC) in the House and Sens. Tim Scott (R-SC) and Jacky Rosen (D-NV) in the Senate — seeks to end the commission and restrict U.S. contributions to the U.N. that fund it.

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 [[link removed]] Support critical funding for collaborative U.S.-Israel PTSD research. S.221, or the United States-Israel PTSD Collaborative Research Act, establishes a grant program for scientific collaborative efforts between U.S. and Israeli researchers around the research, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD. This bipartisan legislation – introduced by Senators Jerry Moran (R-KS), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Joni Ernst (R-IA), and Ben Cardin (D-MD) – has the potential to transform the lives of veterans in both countries suffering from the disorder. The House has already passed the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which includes funding for this grant program. The Senate must now follow suit.

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 [[link removed]] Congress must prevent terrorism at home and abroad. Congress is finally taking action to stand with Israel and hold supporters of Hamas and its affiliates accountable. A bipartisan group of 55 House members introduced H.R. 3685, the Hamas International Financing Prevention Act, to impose financial sanctions on foreign persons, agencies, and governments that assist Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, or their affiliates. Hamas terrorism supporters MUST be held accountable. Does Congress have your support?

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 [[link removed]] Strengthen Regional Security Partnerships in Israel and the Middle East. The bipartisan and bicameral Deterring Enemy Forces and Enabling National Defenses (DEFEND) Act, introduced by Abraham Accords Caucus members Senators Joni Ernst (R-IA), Jacky Rosen (D-NV), James Lankford (R-OK), and Cory Booker (D-NJ), alongside Representatives Brad Schneider (D-IL), Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), David Trone (D-MD), Ann Wagner (R-MO), Don Bacon (R-NE) and Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), seeks to further strengthen the security partnership between the U.S., Israel, and other Middle Eastern allies to combat Iranian aggression through integrated air and missile defense capabilities. The House has already passed the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that includes DEFEND. The Senate must now follow suit.

🚨 ACTION ALERT 🚨 [[link removed]] Antisemitism Has No Place in Textbooks. School children at the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) are being taught violence and antisemitism in the classroom. Textbooks in these schools erase Israel from maps, encourage violent behavior, and refer to Israel as the “enemy.” Partly funded by American aid, teaching hatred undermines American efforts to foster peace and perpetuates hatred against Israel and Jews. Introduced by Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) along with Reps. Lee Zeldin (R-NY), Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ), Brian Mast (R-FL) and David Trone (D-MD), H.R. 2374, the Peace and Tolerance in Palestinian Education Act, would help ensure U.S. funds are not being used in ways that undermine the U.S.-Israel relationship and perpetuate antisemitism.
