The Department of Homeland Security. Tech corporations. Militarized local police departments. The “War on Terror.” Friend, it’s all interconnected.

Our latest research spotlights how tech corporations drive the government’s demand for so-called “homeland security” technologies and how the government has used the “War on Terror” as a justification for 20 years of militarizing local police forces.

Explore our just-released report, “DHS Open for Business: How Tech Corporations Bring the War on Terror to Our Neighborhoods” to see what we’re doing to expose and address the cycle of surveillance and militarization in our communities.

It takes our entire network of people and partner organizations to investigate and speak on what’s really going on in our age of surveillance capitalism. In this report, we partnered with ACRE, LittleSis, and The Surveillance, Tech, and Immigration Policing Project to expose this web of greed, lobbying, funding, and profit.

We can only expose the ties between the federal government, tech giants, and local police by all joining together to do the research and analysis. We can only change the actions of these powerful forces by all joining together to push for changes at the federal and local levels alike.

Read the report to see how the cycle of surveillance capitalism continues in the name of the “War on Terror” — and get action steps to stop the cycle.
