I was proud to send this legislation to President Biden’s desk.

Hakeem Jeffries for the People

John xxxxxx,

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the Respect for Marriage Act — legislation I helped introduce to enshrine same-sex and interracial marriage at the federal level – which President Biden signed into law today.

I am proud to have advocated for marriage equality throughout my career in public service, dating back to my time in the New York State Assembly, where we advanced historic legislation to codify same-sex marriage.

Now, we’ve reaffirmed those same values, and House Democrats made a statement that we will always fight to defend personal freedoms.

It’s a critical effort as far-right ideologues, like Justice Clarence Thomas on the right-wing runaway Supreme Court, will stop at nothing to strip away our rights and turn back the clock.

The Respect for Marriage Act would not have been passed without strong Democratic majorities in Congress and the advocacy of LGBTQ+ activists. That’s what makes our fight to retake control of the House in 2024 so critical.

Our work’s not over, but we need to flip the House blue to put us in the best position to keep defending our freedom and delivering For The People.

If you’re willing to join me in the fight to take back the House majority so we can continue standing up for our Democratic values, I’m humbly asking you to make a donation to support my campaign:
