*Dear Neighbors,*

The legislative session is just around the corner and I can?t wait to get started! We?ll be sworn in on January 3rd and I look forward to getting to work with my new and returning colleagues. Not much will change on your end; my office, email, and phone number will all remain the same so feel free to contact me as always.

Also around the corner is the beginning of new laws [ [link removed] ], which?ll take place on January 1st. Overall these laws won?t change too much, but one around prenatal care may be of interest. Health plans will be required to cover:


* a comprehensive postnatal visit with a health care provider not more than three weeks from the date of delivery;
* any postnatal visits recommended by a health care provider between three and 11 weeks from the date of delivery; and
* a comprehensive postnatal visit with a health care provider 12 weeks from the date of delivery.?

*Washington Visit*

In addition to advocating for environmental policy at the White House, I was also able to meet with two congresswomen, including our Representative, Angie Craig. Congresswoman McCollum [ [link removed] ] and Craig were a pleasure as always and I hope our meeting can help our state receive the resources it needs to protect the environment. I also met with the Canadian Consul General to Minnesota and we discussed how we can be good partners from across borders.

*Happy Holidays*

While in D.C. I attended the Christmas tree lighting at the Canadian embassy. It was a great way to usher in the holiday season. With the first day of Hanukkah only five days away I would also like to wish all those who celebrate a Happy Hanukkah! I hope everyone has a joyful holiday season!
