Dear Supporter:
At the end of a year like this, with over 95 confirmed judges - including Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson! - it would be easy to rest on our laurels and skate into the new year.
But that’s not AFJ’s style.
And as AFJ’s Legal Director for Federal Courts, it’s not my style either. I am so proud of the numbers and quality of new judges we’ve helped to be nominated and confirmed. But even with the end of year bearing down on us, we’re not stopping. We are working, every day, with the Democratic leadership in the Senate to move forward as many judicial confirmations as possible! In fact, we’ve confirmed 11 more judges just since the mid-term elections. And we’re not slowing down!
Our Confirmations Overdue campaign is in full swing, as we seek to get many more of the most noteworthy and equal justice champions currently in the queue confirmed.
Despite Sen. Sinema’s exit from the Democratic Party, Democrats can and should continue to swiftly confirm fair-minded judges now and over the coming years (according to reports, Sinema will not caucus with the Republican Party). And, as we look ahead to a 51 Senator majority, AFJ will be tripling down on our judicial nominations campaign to fill as many vacancies as possible.
When you give today, you are a vital part of AFJ’s work to restore hope and expand experiential and demographic diversity in the federal judiciary – to rebalance our courts to reflect our American values. Will you join us with a gift today? The future of our democracy and justice depends on it.
