John,
After the midterm elections, we at Issue One — like everyone who supports democracy — breathed a small sigh of relief.
But we know our work is far from done. The threats to our democracy have not disappeared.
One of the biggest threats that doesn’t get attention is the fact that election workers across the country don’t have the funding and protections they need to continue running free and fair elections.
So we’ve got big plans in the new year to mobilize election officials and poll workers to demand what they need. We’re also fighting right now in the “lame duck” session of Congress for additional election funding.
Your generosity helps support this important work!
Earlier this year we launched our Faces of Democracy campaign to build support in Congress for increased election funding and expanded protections for election officials and poll workers.
We launched a powerful video that showed the devastating impacts disinformation can have on election officials and poll workers, including becoming the targets of threats, intimidation, and harassment.
We brought a group of our Faces of Democracy participants to D.C. to speak with lawmakers about what more can be done to protect and support our elections and election workers.
We published opinion pieces, released podcast episodes, and did a big media tour this fall to help amplify the voices of election workers and their experiences.
Our work is more important than ever. Threats to our elections and those who run them remain. These folks are our neighbors, friends, and family members — and we’re going to keep standing with them. Will you join us?
Chip in $5 so we can keep beating the drum on these important issues!
Our elections remain woefully underfunded, and it’s going to take a big national campaign to push Congress to do the right thing. Join us — we can’t do it without you.
Your support is much appreciated,
Dokhi Fassihian Deputy Chief of Strategy and Program
