John, earlier this month, I was proud to cast my vote to prevent a national rail shutdown – but now I need your help.

This vote was an easy one – and not just for me. Not only do these workers deserve fair pay and benefits, but the economy also depends on these trains running when they are supposed to. So, I am proud to have stood with a bipartisan coalition to get this done.

I joined 79 of my colleagues in voting to enact a historic deal that will give workers a well-deserved pay increase and expand their health benefits at a time where the nation is still feeling the impacts of the pandemic. This represents a real, meaningful step toward fairness and what is right, and I was proud to vote yes.

But I was incredibly disappointed that Congress failed to pass another critical measure, which would've given paid sick leave to our rail workers. Our folks running the railways work so hard to keep our country and our economy moving. Paid sick leave is far overdue and more than deserved.

Even though this measure failed, we cannot stop fighting for the benefits that our rail workers deserve. That's why I'm calling on you: We need to show Washington that we won't abandon rail workers. Please, will you add your name to demand that Congress pass paid leave for our rail workers? Change will only happen if people like you make your voices heard, and I'm counting on another 19 Democrats from xxxxxx to add their names before 11:59 p.m. tonight!

Thank you for standing with me on this one.

– Tom
