Over the last few weeks, I’ve introduced you to several of our Global Partners. Today, I’m proud to highlight one of our established partnerships for you: WINGS, a small non-profit organization providing reproductive health care and education to rural Guatemalans.

Your generous fellow supporter has pledged $250,000 to inspire others, like you, who care about expanding reproductive health care to rural or remote areas around the world. Your gift of $40.00 today can support programs at WINGS and various other small non-profits whose work advances our mission … and it will be matched, dollar for dollar!   

Founded in 2001, WINGS provides quality reproductive health education and services to underserved Guatemalans. Their holistic approach to reproductive health recognizes the barriers facing those in need and engages community members, including Indigenous women and girls, to bring their voices to the forefront of the decision-making process.

An estimated 40% of Indigenous Guatemalans live in extreme poverty. The effects disproportionately impact girls, who are more likely to be denied basic human rights, including food and education, when household resources are limited. This in turn perpetuates early marriage and high birth rates—in fact, Guatemala has the highest fertility in the region. Filling the unmet need for modern contraceptive access can have an enormous impact on the lives of girls and women and of their families. According to WINGS’ estimates, their services prevented nearly 22,000 unintended pregnancies in 2021 alone.
