Vivid thermal images capture the reality for the thousands of us living in the coldest neighbourhoods in England and Wales.

Dear John

As the vivid thermal images in our new short film highlight, millions of us are stuck in cold, draughty homes. Do you have a few minutes to watch and share, to get the word out that urgent government action is needed to insulate the UK’s freezing homes?

These striking pictures were taken by photojournalist Grey Hutton when he visited people in some of the coldest neighbourhoods in England and Wales [1].

He met Audrey in Rhyl, who’s been forced to live in just one room because of soaring bills. And Lee’s family in Halifax, whose problems have been made worse by their landlord’s failure to repair a cracked window.

Lee, his partner and their two young children live in a privately rented home in Halifax. They're shown trying to keep warm while they wait on their landlord for repairs.

Audrey is retired and lives alone in Rhyl on the North Wales coast. She needs to keep warm because of poor circulation caused by a heart condition.

Iqra lives with her parents and younger brother and sister in Bradford. Her sister is shown keeping warm at home by the glow of an electric fire.

We teamed up with Grey to get the word out about the United for Warm Homes campaign. It's a growing alliance of community groups that we initiated to tackle both the cost of living and climate crises.

We’ll be in touch in the new year with ways to get involved locally. But for now please help us spread the word out by watching and sharing the short film. ([link removed])

And thank you again if you donated to help power this campaign in the Big Give Christmas Challenge. Every penny is hugely appreciated.

Best wishes, and I hope you can stay warm this week.
