Team -- I've developed a pretty thick skin over the years. As a woman of color in Congress, it's an absolute necessity.

But I refuse to stand by and accept the racism that has become the defining characteristic of Trump's GOP.

So when a GOP congressman publicly calls me an "Ayatollah sympathizer" for opposing Trump's reckless foreign policy agenda, I'm not going to back down.

Labeling Americans who oppose reckless wars as hateful or terrorist sympathizers is one of the oldest plays in the right-wing playbook. It paved the way for the invasion of Iraq -- and now they're trying to do the same with Iran.
