Team,

You may have heard the news recently that railroad workers across the country planned to go on strike if Congress failed to agree on a deal to improve their working conditions and raise their pay. A deal was struck, but it was missing one crucial component that the rail unions were fighting for: paid sick leave.

It’s not just railroad workers, friend. As it stands, tens of thousands of workers in the service, construction, and farming industries still don’t get paid sick days. Every day, hard-working Americans are forced to make a tough decision between working and getting paid or taking care of their health and losing income. It’s unacceptable, and in my view, paid sick leave should not be a controversial issue.

Throughout my campaign for Congress, I made it clear that I stand with workers fighting for basic benefits like sick leave. That’s why I was endorsed by the International Association of Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transportation Workers, the Amalgamated Transit Union, and the AFL-CIO. In Congress, I’ll do everything in my power to speak up for the workers who are so vital to our economy and our country.

If you’re with me, please send in a donation of $5 today. Your support right now will help bolster our efforts to fight for workers and demand paid sick leave.

When the new Congress comes into session in less than a month, one of my top priorities will be defending those who put in countless hours to feed their families and support local economies in Illinois’ 17th District.

I’m ready to get to work, and I’m grateful you’re joining me in this effort.

Thank you,

Eric
