Maine Conservation Voters

Dear John,

As kids across Maine head back to school after the holidays, here at MCV, we're excited to head back to the State House for the start of the 2020 legislative session! We spent time yesterday morning mingling through the halls of the State House, soaking up the ‘first day’ energy and chatting with lawmakers. We asked many of them “What are you most excited for this session?” To read more on their answers, take a look at the photo album here on our Facebook page.

Although we started the "short" session yesterday — where lawmakers typically only consider budgetary matters, bills that have been held over from the previous year, or emergency legislation —  this year we'll be working with community members, scientists, organizational allies, and legislators to help develop a comprehensive Climate Action Plan. We also expect to make great strides in protecting our air, water, and health, and see new funding for the Land for Maine’s Future program.

If you haven't already, we hope you will sign our petition urging lawmakers to consider and pass the Land for Maine's Future bond in this session. Click here to add your name, then please share with your friends and family.

2020 will be a big year for conservation voters like you — from the legislative session to the November election — and we'll need your energy and support in the weeks and months to come!

Thanks for all you do,

Beth Ahearn
