Last Thursday, the House passed the Respect for Marriage Act to protect same-sex and interracial marriage at the federal level.

With the conservative majority on the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade this past summer — Barbara proudly voted to enshrine marriage equality into law to prevent the Court from stripping another fundamental right from millions of Americans.

Not only are we making progress toward stopping the right-wing Court’s assault on our fundamental rights and freedoms, but this is an incredible moment in our fight toward equality.

Last week, Barbara and her colleagues stood tall to ensure no state official or conservative Supreme Court Justice will have the right to rule over who someone chooses to marry.
