Emerge Women and U.S. Congresswomen-elect: Becca Balint, Emilia Skyes, Val Hoyle

John, Emerge is leading a movement to transform politics by empowering Democratic women to turn our country around. And our strategy is working. 

Emerge women continue to break barriers and shatter ceilings to achieve historic firsts and build power against the odds! Just look at some of our incredible victories this year: 

Congresswoman-elect Becca Balint won her race to become the first woman and first out LGBTQ+ person elected to Congress from Vermont! Her win marks a historic achievement for our country: Now EVERY state in the US has elected a woman to Congress! 

Congresswoman-elect Emilia Sykes defied the polls and pundits to win her race and become the first Black woman elected from Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. Sykes is an inaugural cohort member of the NEW Emerge Seated Together program that trains Black women elected officials to run for higher office.

Congresswoman-elect Val Hoyle won her election and will rise through the ranks from the Oregon Bureau of Labor to the U.S. House of Representatives. Through her previous service as state House majority leader and as labor commissioner, Hoyle is opening doors for her Emerge sisters behind her. 

We can’t name them all here, John, but Emerge women defied the polls, stopped the GOP’s red wave, and WON at an incredible 72 percent success rate in the midterms. Better yet, 97 percent of our incumbents won their races and held on to critical positions at every level of our government.

That means our ranks, and our movement, are growing – but we can’t afford to slow down now. So please:
