While you were busy during the holidays this past December, Trump just made one of his biggest endorsements yet heading into the 2020 election: Senator Susan Collins.1
Citing Collins’ support of Brett Kavanaugh, Trump and Sen. Lindsey Graham praised her “unbelievable courage during Justice Kavanaugh's confirmation” and noted, “We need her to ensure a GOP [Senate] majority in 2020.”
Trump and Graham (and Mitch McConnell) know that their Republican majority – and, with it, their efforts to reshape our federal courts – are at stake with Collins’ race for reelection… and so do you.
Collins is a TOP TARGET of PFAW’s Take Back the Senate Fund, but our efforts to flip her seat from red to blue depend on hitting our goals every month this year.
And so far, in the very first month of 2020, we’re already behind in the progress we need to make our $42,000 budget for January.
There was NOTHING “courageous” about Susan Collins’ support for Brett Kavanaugh – she toed the party line and confirmed a Supreme Court Justice who faced serious and credible allegations of sexual assault by multiple women; lied to senators in his confirmation hearings, and whose record was bursting at the seams with examples of right-wing and partisan-Republican extremism.
Now she’s toeing the line again by backing Mitch McConnell’s efforts to whitewash Trump’s wrongdoing with a sham impeachment trial, in connection to which McConnell has admitted he will NOT be impartial and plans to work hand-in-hand with the White House to protect Trump!
With her support of Kavanaugh, Justice Gorsuch, and Trump’s other judicial nominees, Collins has put the right to choose, health care, the environment, LGBTQ+ equality, and other causes she says she supports at risk, BETRAYING her constituents.
She’s putting democracy itself at risk by continuing to back Trump’s corrupt abuse of power and McConnell’s assault on our system of checks and balances…
Voters in Maine have had enough – that’s why Collins’s approval rating is tanking in recent polls.
But national Republicans and their Big Money backers are going to pull out all the stops and spend whatever it takes to protect her seat.
So we need to raise enough resources to stay competitive and keep a bright spotlight on Collins’s pro-Trump record … and we need your help, friend.
This is the most important election year of our lives.
